Randy Eggert is a writer, linguist, and amateur builder. He lives with his wife and two kids in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he teaches at the University of Utah.
When he can, he goes to their land in Southern Utah to build earthen structures. He is writing a memoir about how working on the land helped him recover from grief and a debilitating illness.

Salora Sunrise is the family’s land in the Escalante Desert. The large structures include a shed, a cob privy, an open-air sleeping shelter with earthen beds, a ramada, and an earth-sheltered bunkhouse (in progress).
